Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) conducted a joint exercise with the Pakistan Navy in the Java Sea last week to strengthen maritime security and military cooperation between the two friendly nations.Head of the Indonesian Defence Forces Information Center Brigadier General Muhammad Nas stated that both navies deployed advanced defense assets during the exercise.“TNI AL deployed KRI Bung Karno-369, KRI Wiratno-379, and the Panther HS-1311 helicopter, while the Pakistan Navy deployed PNS Taimur, PNS Aslat, and the submarine PNS Hangor,” Nas said in a written statement received on Monday.The Information Center stated that the joint exercise took place in the Java Sea near Jakarta on Friday, May 22.Nas explained that the two navies carried out several drills, including tactical maneuvering exercises, a photo exercise (PHOTEX), and a search and rescue exercise (SAREX).He added that the training was conducted according to established standards to ensure the safety and security of all personnel and equipment involved.According to Nas, the Indonesian Navy considered the exercise successful and expected it to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance the operational capabilities of both navies.The joint exercise was the main agenda of the Pakistan Navy’s five-day courtesy visit to Indonesia, which began on May 18.During the visit, the Pakistani delegation met with senior Indonesian Navy officers and organized open ship activities as well as an onboard diplomatic reception.Pakistani officers were also invited to join a city tour and participate in friendly sports matches with their Indonesian counterparts during their stay in Jakarta.The Pakistan Navy delegation was led by Commander of the 18th Destroyer Squadron Commodore Omar Farooq.
