Prabowo calls for Pancasila-based economic development

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto on Monday stressed that Indonesia's economic development must be guided by Pancasila values, including religious principles, humanity, national unity, and a commitment to public welfare.Speaking at the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration in Jakarta, Prabowo said economic development should not be measured solely by statistical growth figures but by its ability to deliver tangible prosperity for all Indonesians.”What is the meaning of an economy based on Pancasila? First, a religious economy, a humane economy, and an economy that strengthens national unity,” he said.Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia's natural resources are not merely commodities but a trust from God that must be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people and future generations. He said the success of economic development should be measured by improvements in people's quality of life, particularly among the most vulnerable groups.Every Indonesian child, he added, must have access to adequate nutrition to ensure healthy growth and development.”Economic development must result in a better life for all Indonesians. Our children, especially those who are the weakest, poorest, and most vulnerable, must receive sufficient nutrition,” he said.Prabowo also stressed that economic development must serve national interests rather than the interests of a select few.According to him, Indonesia's natural wealth has largely benefited foreign interests, while much of its economic value has yet to be fully enjoyed by the Indonesian people. He added that economic development must also provide decent jobs and incomes for workers.”The fate of our workers must be protected and supported. Our economy must also side with national interests and the interests of the people,” Prabowo said. The president emphasized that his current task is to transform the nation, particularly in the economic sector, to ensure development is fully aligned with the values of Pancasila.
