Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto confirmed that his latest meeting with United States President Donald Trump yielded mutually beneficial results for both Indonesia and the US.The two leaders focused on long-standing negotiations regarding reciprocal tariffs during a thirty minute session in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, February 19.”Negotiations have been going on for quite a while. We finally reached a point of mutual benefit and mutual respect. I think it is a good outcome,” Prabowo told reporters in Washington, D.C. on Saturday morning. The President noted that Indonesia has been involved in one of the longest-running trade and tariff negotiations with the US. However, he emphasized that the meeting yielded positive results.Indonesia was also the only member of the Board of Peace (BoP) to hold a bilateral meeting with President Trump on the sidelines of the board's first meeting on Thursday (February 19).Prabowo underlined that the core of the discussion remained the effort to reach a fair and mutually beneficial trade agreement for both Indonesia and the US.Earlier, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that President Prabowo Subianto was the only head of state to hold a bilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump during the BoP summit in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.He explained that a trade agreement between Indonesia and the US was signed during the meeting. Under the new deal, both nations agreed to a reciprocal tariff of 19 percent for imports from Indonesia.Indonesia and the US have also agreed on a $38.4 billion trade and investment commitment in various sectors. The deals were formalized at the 2026 US-Indonesia Business Summit in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday (February 18).
