Prabowo meets 12 global funds managing $16 trillion in Washington

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met executives from 12 major global investment firms in Washington on Friday to strengthen strategic investment partnerships, as Indonesia seeks to boost capital inflows and economic growth.Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani, who also serves as chief operating officer of Danantara, said the 12 firms collectively manage about US$16 trillion in assets under management.“We have just concluded a session where the President met directly with 12 of the world’s largest investment companies, with total assets under management of around US$16 trillion,” Rosan told reporters after the meeting. The nearly two-hour meeting covered Indonesia’s efforts to improve its investment climate, maintain economic and political stability, and outline future policy direction, he said.Executives provided input on policy consistency, law enforcement, capital market development and measurable risks that investors consider before committing funds.Key sectors discussed for potential cooperation included technology, renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, the digital economy and entrepreneurship development.“The discussion was very fruitful, very productive,” Rosan said.He added that Danantara has intensified communication with global investors to explore further cooperation, positioning itself as a local partner to provide comfort and confidence for international firms investing in Indonesia.Rosan said many of the world’s largest investment firms had not yet optimized their exposure to Indonesia, instead focusing more heavily on other countries.“With Danantara’s presence, they see potential in partnering locally. That provides comfort and confidence as we can invest together not only in Indonesia but also abroad,” he said.Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir said investor interest in expanding and collaborating in Indonesia was rising, including discussions on opening representative offices in the country.Talks with the 12 firms have advanced toward concrete partnerships that will be announced at an appropriate time, he said.Senior executives attended from cities including Los Angeles, New York and London, as well as other parts of Europe, to meet the president directly.Rosan and Pandu declined to disclose the names of the 12 firms, but said participants included the majority owner of Chelsea, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as a major investor in artificial intelligence company OpenAI.They said the sports investor pledged to explore bringing Chelsea and the Lakers to Indonesia for cooperation and exhibition matches, while discussions with the OpenAI investor focused on applying AI to improve efficiency in various sectors.Rosan said Prabowo welcomed the attendance of top-level executives, describing their presence as a strong signal of confidence in Indonesia’s investment climate.
