Prabowo reaffirms capital market reforms to boost investor confidence

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to capital market reforms aimed at strengthening global investor confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects.The remarks came during a meeting with international investors, Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Pandu Sjahrir said Friday, following a session in Washington, D.C.The two-hour discussion included major investors from Los Angeles, New York, London, and across Europe, who engaged directly with Prabowo on market reforms and long-term opportunities.“We discussed reforms in the capital market,” Pandu said, emphasizing the importance of regulatory and structural improvements.Investors noted the capital market’s crucial role in building confidence in Indonesia’s economic trajectory and potential returns.Prabowo highlighted the need to strengthen legal systems and ensure regulatory certainty as foundational elements of the reform agenda.“These issues received broad appreciation from investors, who see legal certainty as key to encouraging long-term investment,” Pandu said.Participants praised Prabowo’s focus on confidence-building and his commitment to enhancing the rule of law in financial markets.The establishment of BPI Danantara, a sovereign investment vehicle initiated by Prabowo, also received positive feedback from the investors.Many of the global investors have experience partnering with sovereign wealth funds worldwide and view Danantara as a strategic local partner.Several investors expressed interest in initiating investments through partnership structures, with Danantara serving as a gateway for capital inflows into Indonesia, he said.The meeting underscored Jakarta’s push to modernize financial infrastructure and strengthen investor trust while positioning the country as a more competitive emerging market.
