Prabowo pushes single-channel exports to keep resource wealth at home

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto stated that the natural resource export policy is a strategic government measure aimed at ensuring Indonesia's resource wealth delivers maximum benefits to the public. He noted that a significant portion of profits generated from Indonesia's natural resources has flowed overseas rather than fully benefiting the Indonesian people.”For too long, some of the profits from natural resources have flowed abroad and have not remained in the country. Therefore, we decided to implement a single-channel policy for natural resource exports,” he said during his speech at the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration in Jakarta on Monday.Earlier, the government established PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) to manage and supervise export transactions involving strategic natural resource commodities, initially focusing on coal, crude palm oil (CPO), and ferroalloys. The head of state also emphasized the importance of large-scale investment in downstream industrialization to increase the added value of natural resources. Moreover, the government aims to strengthen the management of export foreign exchange earnings to ensure that the benefits of the nation's natural wealth reach a broader segment of the population, he addedHe further stated that Indonesia's economic development must remain rooted in the values of Pancasila, including the principle of an egalitarian economy oriented toward the interests of the people.Prabowo believes that the direction of national economic development has been clearly outlined by the nation's founders through Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution. The Indonesian economy must be organized as a collective endeavor based on the principle of kinship. Therefore, strengthening cooperatives remains a key government agenda to improve welfare and reduce poverty, he said.”Cooperatives must be strengthened to help our people overcome poverty and powerlessness. We must strengthen small and medium enterprises, and villages must become centers of new economic growth,” he emphasized.Furthermore, Prabowo stressed that the primary objective of national economic development is to achieve social justice for all Indonesians. In this regard, economic growth must be accompanied by the fair distribution of various development outcomes, ensuring that progress is experienced across all levels of society.
