Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed his administration's commitment to empowering vulnerable communities, emphasizing the importance of keeping their hope alive.”When those who are deeply vulnerable and helpless can smile and laugh, it means hope is beginning to take root. Our job is to give hope to the most helpless among our people,” Prabowo said in Jakarta on Friday.Speaking at a book launch for Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Prabowo expressed confidence that he and his administration are on the right path.”I believe we will always be on the right track,” the president said.During the event, President Prabowo also reiterated the government's achievements and successes, including its response to the challenges faced by the public, particularly regarding bridges.”Thousands of bridges that we have built are bridges that people actually feel the impact of. People call out, and through technology, we immediately catch it, respond, and react,” he remarked.According to him, nearly 2,500 bridges have been built across villages throughout Indonesia. He further noted that the issue of damaged bridges or villages lacking bridge access can actually be resolved by village governments, given the Village Fund allocation of roughly Rp1 billion (approximately US$56,205) per year for each village.”A village bridge costs around Rp400 million on average—maybe Rp700 million, Rp800 million, or up to Rp2 billion to Rp3 billion for larger ones. In reality, all villages and village leaders are capable of meeting these bridge needs,” he added.President Prabowo said that if governors, district heads, subdistrict heads, or village heads fail to address the needs of their residents, his administration will not hesitate to step in and directly deliver what the people are calling for.The president added that the government is currently speeding up the renovation of thousands of schools across various regions, targeting over 70,000 schools by the end of 2026.”Next year, our target is 100,000, and over the next three years, we will complete the renovation of every school across Indonesia,” he said.Additionally, Prabowo affirmed that his administration will renovate every community health center (puskesmas) across Indonesia that has gone without repairs for over 30 years.
