Tabanan, Bali (ANTARA) – Deputy Home Affairs Minister Bima Arya underscored the importance of strengthening synergy in food supply distribution across the provinces of Bali, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to keep inflation under control.”Bank Indonesia, together with regional leaders from Bali, NTB, and NTT, continues to strengthen collaboration. We are ensuring that production and distribution remain secure and well-managed,” Arya said on the sidelines of the Inflation Control and Food Prosperity Movement (GPIPS) in Jatiluwih Tourism Village, here on Monday.According to him, interregional cooperation in inflation control is crucial, considering that the three provinces have strong economic potential driven largely by the tourism, food, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sectors.He added that although the neighboring provinces have significant potential, they share similar challenges in connectivity, which affects logistics costs and production.”Both production and distribution remain challenging. Moreover, this region relies heavily on tourism, which also creates a fairly high level of volatility,” he said.Through interregional cooperation, provinces with a surplus of certain commodities can support areas experiencing shortages, and vice versa.In addition to interregional cooperation, the deputy minister emphasized the importance of utilizing information technology by mapping price fluctuations from the upstream level to production processes and integrating the data with relevant policymakers.”However, not everyone is able to utilize and coordinate that data with stakeholders,” he remarked in his speech.Third, he added, in the long term it is important to preserve Sustainable Food Agricultural Land (LP2B) to prevent its conversion to other uses.Meanwhile, Bali Regional Secretary Dewa Indra said the three provinces have considerable potential to strengthen regional cooperation.Bali, for instance, can cooperate with NTB, which is a major production center for shallots and garlic, he said.In addition, Bali is one of the country's rice-producing regions, including red rice and organic rice cultivated in the Jatiluwih area of Tabanan District.”We also distribute eggs and other food commodities to NTB and NTT. The three of us truly depend on one another,” Indra said.
