IDX attracts prospective investors for demutualization process

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has identified several potential investors interested in acquiring shares in the exchange operator as it prepares for demutualization under the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (P2SK) Law.IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik said here on Wednesday that the exchange is coordinating with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and existing shareholders to process proposals from the prospective investors.”To comply with the provisions of the relevant laws and regulations, several potential investors have expressed interest in investing in the Indonesia Stock Exchange as part of the demutualization process under the P2SK Law,” Jeffrey said after the IDX's Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders.Despite the planned change in ownership structure, he assured that the demutualization process would maintain the independence of Indonesia's capital market in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.Under the P2SK Law, PT Indonesia Stock Exchange is set to undergo demutualization, allowing ownership by three state institutions, the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia (BI), and the newly established Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia).Earlier, Danantara Indonesia confirmed that it was finalizing plans to acquire a stake in the stock exchange through its subsidiary, PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM).Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir said discussions on the framework for the ownership distribution were underway with regulatory authorities.”Our demutualization process is still underway, both with the OJK and the Exchange's Board of Directors. God willing, it can be completed in the next few months,” Pandu said, adding that specific details on the ownership percentages would be disclosed soon.
