Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) held a Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) with the U.S. Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC) to sharpen personnel capabilities, its commander said on Wednesday.Commander Major General Edwin Adrian Sumantha said the exercise is a strategic step to strengthen troops’ skills and readiness in carrying out security duties.“The cooperation also reflects close ties and friendship between the two institutions and, more broadly, between both countries,” Edwin said in a statement. He said Paspampres personnel must remain ready to operate in any situation and terrain. To ensure readiness, troops must possess strong physical ability, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving skills and professionalism, he added.Such capabilities require intensive training, including joint exercises with elite U.S. forces, Edwin said.“Through this exercise, participants can exchange knowledge, experience, and best practices from each unit,” he said.Edwin urged personnel to take the training seriously and with full dedication to support future assignments.“I stress that all personnel involved must follow every activity with enthusiasm, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility,” he said. The exercise began on Monday, with both forces undertaking various training sessions. These include marksmanship drills at the Paspampres training unit on Tuesday to test shooting accuracy across tactical scenarios.Edwin also inspected the drills to ensure smooth implementation and boost troop morale.
