Prabowo stresses law enforcement to protect state assets

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said law enforcement is key to protecting and managing state assets for public welfare.”The law is a primary instrument to safeguard the nation's wealth. Without it, people cannot prosper,” he said at the Attorney General's Office in Jakarta on Friday. He highlighted ongoing violations harming the state, including corruption, smuggling, illegal mining, and abuse of authority, and reaffirmed his commitment to enforcing the law impartially.”I will use all authority granted by the 1945 Constitution to the President of Indonesia to enforce the law without discrimination,” he said.Prabowo also instructed law enforcement agencies and relevant institutions to strengthen coordination in tackling violations that affect state finances. He stressed that safeguarding state assets is part of public service, noting that the nation's wealth has long been exploited.”Working in government is about service and sacrifice. For far too long, the nation's and the people's wealth has been plundered,” he said.Prabowo called on all elements of society to uphold honesty and justice while strengthening nationalism as a foundation for development. He acknowledged that firm action would face resistance.”The more firm we are, the more we defend the people, the more we will be opposed and attacked,” he said.On the occasion, Prabowo witnessed the symbolic transfer of Rp11.42 trillion (US$667.8 million) in recovered funds from Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa for deposit into the state treasury. The funds include administrative fines, tax payments, and other state revenue from the forestry and environmental sectors.Since its establishment in February 2025, the Forest Area Enforcement (PKH) Task Force has recovered assets worth Rp371.1 trillion (US$21.7 billion).Prabowo said the recovered funds would be used to improve schools, housing, and other infrastructure across Indonesia.
